The Wonder Room - Cancelled
CANCELLATION OF SHOWS
Due to circumstances surrounding the current Covid-19 pandemic, we have taken the very difficult decision to cancel The Wonder Room shows this year with a view to rescheduling sometime in 2021.
Both myself and The Grand Central Hotel have been in regular contact as things develop to discuss the health and safety of attendees and the logistics of making such a performance take place given the strict guidelines issued by the government.
For me, this is not a chance worth taking. The safety and wellbeing of my audiences is paramount and at the forefront of any decision being made at this time. On considering this, cancelling the shows for this year and rescheduling is the safest option for everyone.
This has been a very difficult decision to make. We sold out all shows until December in 6 hours. The project has already incurred significant costs and hundreds of hours of time. I was so excited to share this work with you as I was confident it would be my best project to date. I'm genuinely gutted. The next 6-12 months gives me time to continue to work on the show and hopefully, when the time comes, it will be worth the wait.
Having reviewed the best options for cancelling and rescheduling, I have decided to offer a full refund on ALL tickets purchased for The Wonder Room. I feel that with the current economic situation I would be far more comfortable with people being refunded their money in full rather than have the ticket company sit on it until we reschedule. I hope this will be of some help to people.
I know there will be a lot of people that would be happy to keep their ticket for a rescheduled date in case they are unsuccessful in purchasing tickets once new dates are announced. Don't worry, every ticket buyer will get a pre-sale link to repurchase your tickets before they go on public sale again.
Getting your refund:
If you have purchased a valid ticket you are entitled to a full refund. Please contact refunds@brownpapertickets.com within 2 weeks. Be sure to include your confirmation number.
I will be unable to assist with any refund enquiries from here on in as this will have to be done through Brown Paper Tickets. However, please don't hesitate to get in touch about anything related to The Wonder Room, the cancellation of the events, rebooking etc. by email: info@thewonderroomshow.com
Please note that Brown Paper Tickets' refund processing is significantly delayed; however, all refund requests will be honoured in full. See their COVID-19 response and sign up for updates at https://covid-recovery.brownpapertickets.org.
I'd like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank each and every one of you for the support you have given me, not only for this project but for the constant and continued support you've given me over the past 10 years. You'll never know just how much that means to me. Also, a huge thanks to the team at The Grand Central Hotel who, as ever, have been first class and I extend my gratitude to them for their assistance.
I fully understand and appreciate how difficult a time this has been for individuals, families, businesses and society as a whole. As we see the Scottish Government’s phased approach begin to reopen areas of the business sector and other areas of society, it’s difficult to see what the future of live performance is going to look like. The arts play a critical role in our society; influencing change, instilling values and translating experiences. It positively affects the economy, social inclusion, health and wellbeing and education. During this pandemic, the arts have proved to be a critical part of people’s daily lives; film, music, television, books. It’s been vital for people during lockdown and will continue to be throughout this period of recovery.
The thought of limited theatre seating, reduced capacity concerts and digital art installations strikes fear into every artist and performer. This is without ever touching on the number of venues and companies in the arts that will go out of business. It is truly heartbreaking.
I don't know when we'll be able to sit round a table and share an evening of laughter, friendship and wonder together. However soon or far away, I cannot wait for you to be a part of it.
The most important thing for all of us just now is to follow the guidance, limit the spread of the virus and save lives.
Take care, keep healthy and stay safe.
